Connect with your aunts, uncles and cousins; create a virtual couples’ night among friends; or rally your friends on the video chat app of your choice for a night of laughs and togetherness, all while raising funds for Baycrest during this critical time.

Whether you prefer classic card games like gin rummy, trivia, or newer online games like Heads Up or Drawful, when it comes to having fun and giving back, Game Night is the perfect way to connect with others.

WHERE DO THE FUNDS GO?

Baycrest

All funds raised through Game Night will support Baycrest’s Safeguarding Our Seniors (SOS) Campaign. Older adults are at the greatest risk during the COVID-19 crisis, and Baycrest is taking extraordinary steps to protect them during these unprecedented times.

SOS is raising funds to safeguard our staff and the 1,100 seniors who call Baycrest home, and to help many more in the community through outreach programs and virtual care. All funds raised will go directly toward purchasing vital protective equipment and supporting virtual programming like eVisits for families and loved ones, and increased telemedicine outreach in the broader community.

Together, we will pull out all the stops to help protect the 1,100 seniors on our Baycrest campus and beyond in our community.

PARTY PLANNING

Hosting a Game Night is easy! One of the most common questions is: “What games should we play?” Many people choose to play traditional games like cards, charades or trivial pursuit. These games can be played at home with your immediate family, or virtually through apps like Houseparty, Zoom, FaceTime or WhatsApp video.

Over the past few months as we have been practicing physical distancing and staying home, many new online games have become popular. Check out some of the recommendations below for ideas:

Zynga, an online and mobile game site, offers popular online games including Words With Friends, crosswords, chess and more.

If you and your friends are ‘Potterheads’, check out the online Harry Potter game, where you can create your own character and experience life at Hogwarts.

Play MarioKart Tour, a classic and beloved video game, online with up to 7 friends for free with a Nintendo account.

Check out QuizUp, an online trivia game where you can play with friends online in real time.

Made popular by the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Heads Up via Houseparty is a boisterous video chatting game you can play with up to eight friends. It’s a quick and easy word and clue-based game that’s sure to elicit lots of laughs. Search for it through your phone’s app store.

Drawful by Jackbox is an online drawing game played in real time with friends. Prompted by weird cues, each player draws an image on their mobile device while others guess the correct prompt. This popular and goofy game has rocketed in popularity in the last year, and works well with a big group of players.
